Antique 1920 Prescription Book from the Battle Creek Sanitarium in Michigan.
The Battle Creek Sanitarium was a world-renowned health resort in Battle Creek, Michigan, United States. It started in 1866 on health principles advocated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church and from 1876 to 1943 was managed by Dr. John Harvey Kellogg.
This prescription book was for Mrs. Grace B. Jewell & issued by Dr. Mary V. Dryden (the doctor's name is listed on the inside of the cover under Medical Staff). The patient case number reads 133073 & issued to the patient on 07-23-1920.
The case number looks to have been updated with a marker. It does not match the original pen ink on the cover. The back cover shows a picture of the sanitarium and is a bit faded (see pics).
The small booklet (6 1/2" tall x 4 1/4" wide) is held together by brads. It has a daily regiment of the patient and a few pages are filled out (see pics). The overall condition of the little booklet is very nice. There is some light staining, wrinkles, creases, dents & dings. There is color fading & as noted earlier, the patient case number on the cover appears to have been filled in with marker sometime after the initial writing.
Overall it is in great shape for over 100 years old!
